It has been 20 months since we have lived here. We now live closer to the city in Milsons Point/Lavender Bay. Check out our view.
I have found the people here to extremely friendly-striking up conversations with you everywhere - coffee shops, school, grocery stores, the gym. However, driving makes me crazy and not because you have to drive on the other side of the road. The drivers here are rude, probably similar to driving in Boston.
I have a long commute to drive my son to school. And people comment on that frequently. Why do you drive 30 minutes to school? Isn't there a school closer to where you live? Of course, but he is in a good French bilingual program at Killarney Heights. http://www.killarneyh-p.schools.nsw.edu.au/
The distance is pretty similar to what we have to drive from Mountain View to Palo Alto in the Bay Area. However, I do not have the 101 freeway here. No Pacific Highway is not my answer. I have to travel on several roads and people park on the left side of the road but you never know when you will run into a parked car on a major road. So why not just drive in the right lane? Well then you have to wait for people to turn right. And why don't people stop for ambulances? I am just glad I have never had to be in an ambulance here. I do have to admit it is much easier going through the roundabouts but sometimes it is the most aggressive driver who wins.
I love Saturday mornings as I can enjoy our view and not stress that I need to tackle the traffic to Killarney.
